Zero-carbon homes could be law

Communities and Local Government (CLG) Minister for Housing, John Healey, announced on 24 November that the UK will be the first country in the world to require new homes to be ‘zero-carbon’ as a matter of law from 2016. The announcement came in a speech to the Green Building Council (GBC).

At the same event, Mr. Healey launched a consultation to gather information on how the zero-carbon standards could be applied to non-domestic buildings from 2019.
